Pharmacies in Austria
For Austria we publish no pharmacy directory. Not because we did not build one, but because no source exists that answers the question which brought you here: which pharmacy stocks or compounds cannabis-based medicines.
What does exist, and why it is not enough
Austria keeps an official register of pharmacies authorised for distance selling. The register is complete and sound — but what it records is the right to dispense non-prescription medicines at a distance. Prescription-only cannabinoids may not be dispensed through that channel in any case. To publish such a list under the heading “cannabis pharmacies” would be to borrow a register's authority for a statement it never makes. We do not do that.
Which of Austria's roughly 1,450 pharmacies actually compound magistral preparations containing cannabinoids is recorded by no authority and no chamber. There is no notification procedure for it and no marking. Every list on the web that promises you otherwise has either been copied from Germany — where the legal position is a different one — or invented.
What you can do instead
The quickest route is a phone call to your pharmacy, and it takes two minutes. Ask whether the pharmacy makes up your particular prescription as a magistral preparation itself or obtains it from a compounding pharmacy, and how long that takes from the moment the prescription arrives. Both are normal practice; what matters is knowing it before the appointment, so that prescription and pharmacy fit together.
What may be prescribed in Austria at all, and how the route there runs, is on The route to a prescription in Austria; the cost question is on Costs in Austria. For the same reason we publish, for Austria, no list of doctors either.
Directories we can substantiate: Pharmacies in Germany and Pharmacies in Switzerland.
Pharmacies that say so themselves
No register, but first-party statements: these pharmacies say on their own websites that they compound Dronabinol as a magistral preparation. That is the only source there is, and it proves exactly that — not that the pharmacy will accept your prescription, nor what it costs. Neither publishes prices.
