Alphabetical unless sorted. Every field is the register's own; prices, effects and indications are not register fields and are not here. A lapsed authorisation is kept and flagged.

What the register does not record

The Austrian register records the authorisation and almost nothing a patient would ask about the product. There is no strength for any of the cannabis-extract medicines: the Stärke field is filled only for Epidyolex (100 mg/ml cannabidiol); for Sativex and for the three Vertanical extracts it is empty, so we publish no THC or CBD figure for them rather than borrow one from a package leaflet or a producer's page. The register also carries no pack sizes, no manufacturer, no country of origin, no batch and no certificate of analysis; the only company named is the marketing authorisation holder. There is no register of dronabinol magistral preparations, even though § 14 Z 3 lit b Suchtgiftverordnung expressly allows them: BASG's list of public registers contains no register of magistrale Zubereitungen, and a magistral preparation by definition has no authorisation number, so it can never appear in the Arzneispezialitätenregister. There is likewise no Austrian register of cannabis flower — flower may not be prescribed at all. Supply status is a separate register: we checked the complete Vertriebseinschränkungsregister export (927 entries on the day of checking) and none of the seven products appears in it, and none has a reported "Einstellung des In-Verkehr-Bringens". Note that the register still counts one homeopathic product, Cannabis sativa Remedia Globuli, as cannabis-derived and flags it as relevant under the Suchtgiftverordnung; we keep it because the register keeps it. No prices, indications, effects or ratings are carried here.

How this list was made

The Austrian catalogue is built from a complete CSV export of the BASG/AGES Arzneispezialitätenregister, pulled from the register's own export endpoint on the day of checking; the register reported its last update as 7 September 2026 and the export contained 19,023 distinct authorisation numbers. Every row whose active-substance field names a cannabinoid or a cannabis extract was extracted, which yields seven authorised products and nothing else. Austria is unusual because § 14 Z 3 of the Suchtgiftverordnung forbids prescribing preparations of cannabis at all, with only two exceptions: preparations from cannabis extracts that are authorised as Arzneispezialitäten, and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol isolated from cannabis extracts at a standardised purity above 95 % for magistral preparations. The catalogue is therefore exactly the first exception; the second — dronabinol as a magistral preparation — is real in law but appears in no register, so it is described in the limits rather than invented as a product.
